Beauty and Liver in the same sentence?

Just the word "liver" send shivers down my spine. Not because I have an opinion about eating meat, but because I really don’t like liver. 

When I was eight, my mother was told she was anemic and should eat more liver.

Ugh!

That meant we were going to eat more liver.

It would be floured and cast into an iron pan of lard.

Yum?

Then covered with onions and cooked until leather hard.  So healthy!  

Now the organic holistic thing starts to make sense,

right?

I know that liver offers up some significant vitamins and minerals that your body needs.

At 187 calories per serving, liver also has

If you like liver and you eat it regularly, the only thing you should take note of is the kinds of liver you purchase. The most popular liver is Calf’s liver.  Animals that have been fed antibiotics and grains treated with pesticides will have those toxins in their liver.  You eat it, it affects Your liver. Your liver affects your beauty.


Your Body's Liver

When I really started thinking seriously about a holistic lifestyle, I had to think about what I was doing to my own liver.  The liver is major in the detoxification process. It is the second largest organ in your body and your energy and health depend on it running efficiently.

The liver gets quite a workout!

Every substance that is absorbed by the intestines must first pass through the liver before going on to the circulatory system.

Your liver disposes of toxins produced from the bowel, food, water and the air you breathe and any medications you take.  An abundance of toxins in your liver show up where?  

Your skin!  The largest organ is on your body.

Beauty from the inside out, depends on a healthy liver. Some signs of a sluggish liver's affect on the skin include sallow skin color and tone.

Ok, you say.  I got it.  But what can I do about my sluggish liver? 

You can give your liver healing, natural supplements.  Milk Thistle which has Silymarin gives you a potent antioxidant, at least ten times more so than vitamin E.  And antioxidants help scavenge free radicals.

Cool.

Cut back on alcohol.  Alcohol depletes glutathione, which milk thistle helps replenish.
